UPDATE

8:53AM: The Secret Service tells The Blast they are "aware of the Tweet made by Mr. Fonda. As a matter of practice, we do not comment on matters involving protective intelligence."

Donald Trump Jr. responded to Fonda's initial Tweet writing, "You’re clearly a sick individual and everyone is an internet badass but rather than attack an 11 year old like a bully and a coward why don’t you pick on someone a bit bigger. LMK."

Barron Trump is 12-years-old.

Actor Peter Fonda is facing backlash after he suggested Barron Trump be put "in a cage with pedophiles" during a Twitter rant over Donald Trump's highly controversial family separation immigration policy.

The 78-year-old actor suggested that caging Barron might be the only way his mother, First Lady Melania Trump, would "stand up against the giant a**hole she is married to."

While the president, the first lady, and their adult children have been the subject of scorn throughout Trump's tenure, there is an unspoken agreement across the media that 12-year-old Barron is off-limits.

The actor also tweeted out that he wanted to get 90 million people to protest the policy in the streets of Washington and also at the homes of the ICE agents enforcing the policy.

"GET THE ADDRESSES OF THE ICE AGENTS CBP AGENTS AND SURROUND THEIR HOMES IN PROTEST. WE SHOULD FIND OUT WHAT SCHOOLS THEIR CHILDREN GO TO AND SURROUND THE SCHOOLS IN PROTEST," Fonda wrote in all caps. "THESE AGENTS ARE DOING THIS CUZ THEY WANT TO DO IT. THEY LIKE DOING THIS. FUCK"

Peter Fonda's vitriol toward Trump is over the policy that has separated over 2,000 babies and children from migrant families crossing the US border illegally, with some seeking asylum. Photos and videos have emerged this week of the displaced children crying out for their parents and being held in holding cages, which prompted a massive public outcry.

President Donald Trump is defending the zero-tolerance policy and falsely claiming that it was the fault of Congressional Democrats. However, all Senate Democrats are in support of ending what many are calling an inhumane practice and the GOP, the President's own party, has moved to shut it down. Despite that, during the meeting on Capitol Hill, the President reportedly tried to leverage the policy to get his border wall.
