Lester Holt Belts Out 'Lovely Day' in NYC BBQ Joint

Lester Holt doesn't just read the news — he can sing, too!

The "NBC Nightly News" and "Dateline NBC" host moonlights playing bass for his band, Lester Holt + The Rough Cuts, who performed Sunday night at Hill Country BBQ in New York City.

Holt usually plays bass but on this occasion, he took the mic to sing the classic Bill Withers song, "Lovely Day." It's easy to see from the video, while we love Holt on the news ... perhaps he should stick to playing bass.

The band made their national TV debut back in June when they performed "Jane" by Jefferson Starship on "TODAY." The band is made up entirely of news journalists.
