“Vanderpump Rules” star Lala Kent is opening up about the struggles of her sobriety one year and four months after she got sober. Ahead of Super Bowl, the Bravo diva took to social media to share with fans her determination to stay clean despite “knowing tomorrow might be a struggle.” Taking to her Instagram story on Saturday night, Lala Kent revealed she was spending football’s biggest day in Las Vegas and addressed how she still feels challenged with her sobriety regularly, but she knows how to handle it.
Admitting she was at one time “powerless over alcohol,” Randall Emmett‘s fiancée told fans the severity of her one-time alcoholism. “What my sobriety looks like: I hit a breaking point where I had to identify as an alcoholic or I was going to lose everything.” Saying once she admitted the power alcohol had over her life, it was time to put in work. “I started reading the Big Book, going to meetings and working very hard to never go back to that drunken version of myself,” the “Pump Rules” star wrote.
Revealing it only took her 30 days to decide she “wanted to feel sober forever,” Lala Kent said “it was entirely up to me – no one else” and “that was very empowering.” Over the weekend, it marked 16 months of being alcohol-free for Lala, whose real name is Lauryn Kent. Stating that many tell her she’s on a “pink cloud” with her newfound life, she added, “Maybe I am. What there is no ‘maybe’ about, is that I know I’m human. I love to drink… a lot, I know I’m a hard worker, and I know that my life is entirely up to me.”
Lala Kent also wrote her life could come crashing down if she picks up alcohol. “However, if I decided to pick up a drink, it would be the determining factor of how my life would be.” So one those days when her sobriety is tested, the reality star knows what to do. “I put in more work, and I stay my ass at home; knowing tomorrow might be a struggle as well, but I’ll have the same goal,” she wrote. “I will do anything in my power to stay sober – including reaching out to someone to help me carry the load. You know who you are,” the “Vanderpump Rules” star added while also hashtagging “One day at a time.” Lala Kent has an amazing support system to help her through including her Hollywood producer fiancé, his loving children, and her “Pump Rules” cast.
