Tekashi is finally giving up on the gangster lifestyle, and his attorney is saying the entire thing was just about his "gangster image."

Lance Lazzaro, Tekashi's attorney says, "Daniel Hernandez is completely innocent of all charges being brought against him."

He says the hip-hop star is just "an entertainer who portrays a "gangster image" to promote his music does not make him a member of an enterprise," adding, "Mr. Hernandez became victim of this enterprise and later took steps by firing employees and publicly denounced this enterprise through a morning show."

Tekashi is currently in custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center facing 6 criminal counts that include racketeering and weapons charges. During a joint operation between the police, Homeland Security and the ATF, Tekashi and multiple entourage members were arrested earlier this week.

Apparently the investigation was cut short when Tekashi's safety came into question. Lazzaro confirms his client was in real danger, and says "Threats were made against his life which resulted in this case being brought immediately."

As we reported, officials claim Tekashi was involved in an armed robbery, and recovered a backpack from his home they claim was stolen.

The hip-hop star is facing life in prison, but is obviously planning on vigorously defending himself.
