“Southern Charm” star Kathryn Dennis’ mother Allison has passed away a year after she finished chemotherapy treatments.
According to PEOPLE, Kathryn’s mom Allison Calhoun Dennis died on Wednesday after suffering from an “extended illness”.
A source told the outlet, “Their family requests privacy while they mourn with the sad loss. They’re very private people and they want their time to cope.”
Allison had been diagnosed with cancer and moved in with Kathryn during the battle. We've learned she had finished chemotherapy treatment last year but experienced health issues earlier this year.
She had to undergo emergency surgery in May after experiencing severe stomach pains.
While recovering, she was unable to stay with Kathryn during the month of June, but expected to bounce back within weeks.
Allison was 59-years-old. Funeral plans have yet to be announced by the family. She is survived by her husband, Luke Dennis , Kathryn and son Luke Jr.
Kathryn previously told PEOPLE, ““She was sick for a year and a half and I was taking care of her. She’s since been living with me, essentially. It’s great to have her around, especially because she’s so good with the kids. She’s amazing. She’s the best mom I could ever hope for with everything.”
Kathryn’s mother had recently went to court to back up her daughter in the custody battle with Thomas Ravenel.
She submitted a declaration in the court firing back at Ravenel’s accusation she took care of their kids and not Kathryn.
Allison praised Kathryn’s parenting skills in the declaration saying she “has a very loving relationship with her children.”
