'RHOD' Star Kameron Westcott Speaks Out About George Floyd's Murder After Tone Deaf Vacation Post

By Ryan Naumann

“Real Housewives of Dallas” star Kameron Westcott promises to educate herself on the matter of police brutality after being criticized for being tone-deaf in the days after George Floyd’s murder.

The reality star posted a photo that read “Stronger Together” on her Instagram. She captioned the post, “I’ve been speechless, I can’t think of anything to say that hasn’t been said. However, posting a graphic made by someone else with none of your own thoughts attached to it is equal to remaining silent. This is a nightmare I’m finding hard to accept is real. I am just a mother that happens to be on TV and have a platform, I am not a politician or an expert, that is why I try not to make comments on issues I don’t completely understand”

She promised to do the work saying, “ I don’t want to believe our world, our people, are capable of such horrific acts of violence and hate, but enough is enough. I am working to become educated on these topics, as we all should be. What happened to George Floyd (and many others) was horrific. I pray for his family and this country as a whole. May we all stand together as one people, one unit, until justice is served and equality is mandatory nationwide.”

The post comes after the reality star started catching heat for being tone deaf in the days after George Floyd’s murder. She shared a bunch of photos smiling while enjoying her family beach vacation.

Kameron’s original caption even showed she knew the post timing was inappropriate. She said, “I feel a little weird posting a pic tonight while I am on family vacation, but that is where I happen to be today. I hope justice is served, and everyone stays safe tonight. Better days are ahead for everyone! 🎀 Sending love to EVERYONE tonight. No other words today, wishing everyone a great weekend. 💕 #rhod.”

“I love you Kam but read the room. The world needs people like you who have so many people following them to acknowledge the issues and encourage action like signing the petition or donating to the freedom fund. We can all agree that you are absolutely allowed to enjoy time with your family and post about it, but it’s upsetting that you haven’t given what is going on in your country the attention needed,” wrote one fan.

Kameron isn't the only "Housewives" star being accused of being tone-deaf.
