Azealia Banks Hit With $142,000 Judgment Over Credit Card Bill, Blew Off Court

Rapper Azealia Banks has been ordered to pay $142,000 in a legal battle over her credit card bills.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a New York judge has granted a default judgment against Banks in the amount of $142,287.34, which continues to grow with interest.
The judgment stems from the lawsuit filed by City National Bank in 2017. Banks never showed up to court or respond to the lawsuit.

In the lawsuit, City National Bank said Banks took out two credit cards with them. They claim she stopped making payments in 2016. Banks also had a personal line of credit with them for $50,000. They sued seeking the entire unpaid balance of $137,000 plus interest.
City National had been struggling for several months to serve Banks with the legal papers, even asking for an extension of time to locate the rapper. The judge granted their request and gave them a bit more time.

The bank claimed they eventually tracked down the rapper. A New York process server claims to have tracked down the New York rapper on April 5 at 10:17 a.m.
The server claimed Banks came outside of her NY apartment to collect a UPS delivery, and when the delivery man asked her last name she responded, “Banks.”

The server said he proceeded to hand over the docs and instead the rapper told him Banks lived there but wasn’t home and refused to give her name.
The default judgment brings an end to a year’s long legal battle.
