Nipsey Hussle's Daughter Showing Progress During Grief Counseling

By Liz Walters

Nipsey Hussle's daughter and her mother have been through the wringer this year, but now are getting the tools to begin the healing process through grief counseling.

Emani Asghedom's mother, Tanisha Foster, was in an L.A. courtroom on Thursday as she continued to battle the late rapper's family for custody of her 10-year-old daughter.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, both Emani and Tanisha have been engaged in private grief counseling sessions, and have shown positive improvement.

Tanisha's attorney writes, "I am pleased to report that my client and her daughter have each had private grief counseling sessions," adding that the two are "making excellent progress and are both benefiting by the grief counseling."

Tanisha has been able to spend time with Emani, with her attorney describing that the two have had, "at least two monitored visits with her daughter, both of which went very well."

He claims that Emani has reported back to the court-appointed monitor that she, "very much enjoys seeing her mother, and that there have been no issues of any kind as it relates to my client."

However, Tanisha's attorney didn't have all positive news to report, as he claims Nipsey's family did not abide by the scheduled drop off time, and that Emani showed up "over two hours" late.

As we reported, Tanisha has been battling Nipsey's family for custody of Emani ever since the hip-hop star's death back in March.

The family has claimed Tanisha cannot provide a stable environment for the young girl, but Tanisha has been arguing that she has always been a pillar of strength for her daughter.

During Thursday's court hearing, the judge in the case scheduled the custody trial, which has been set for October 15.
