Billionaire Robert F. Smith Pledges to Pay Off Student Loans for Entire Morehouse College Graduating Class

By TheBlast Staff

The Morehouse College graduating class of 2019 got the shock of a lifetime when commencement speaker Robert F. Smith pledged to pay off the student loans of every one of them.

Billionaire investor Robert F. Smith made the announcement during his speech on Sunday in front of nearly 400 graduating seniors.

"On behalf of the eight generations of my family who have been in this country," Smith said, "we're going to put a little fuel in your bus."

He continued, "This is my class, 2019, and my family is making a grant to eliminate their student loans."

As soon as Smith said that, the crowd went nuts ... as best exemplified by this guy's face.

Smith explained his donation further, telling the students, "Now, I know my class will make sure they pay this forward ... I want my class to look at these (alumni) -- these beautiful Morehouse brothers -- and let's make sure every class has the same opportunity going forward because we are enough to take care of our own community. We are enough to ensure we have all the opportunities of the American dream."

School officials estimate the gift will cost around $40 million.

Sure beats that $20 check from grandma.
