Mariah Carey has been shut down by a judge in her attempt to block her ex-assistant from seeing her private medical records.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a Los Angeles judge has denied the singer’s motion seeking to quash subpoenas fired off by her former employee, Lianna Shakhnazaryan. The subpoenas were served on Carey’s doctors and demanding her medical records be turned over as part of Carey and Shakhnazaryan’s dueling lawsuits.

Carey originally sued Shakhnazaryan accusing her of attempted blackmail. She says Shakhnazaryan filmed “intimate videos” of her without permission and tried to extort her for $8 million dollars. Lianna filed her own lawsuit against Carey accusing her of wrongful termination.

“the subpoena seeks Mariah’s private medical records and testimony regarding Mariah’s medical records, both of which are irrelevant to the subject matter of this action or the determination of any motion made in this action. Rather, the subpoena is nothing more than an improper attempt to embarrass and harass Mariah.”

She added, “As a public figure, Mariah is no stranger to having her private life mercilessly dissected by tabloids. In the past, tabloids have printed articles from “sources close” to Mariah who have made various sensationalist allegations about her health. Even if the disclosure of medical records were made subject to a protective order, it would be difficult (if not impossible) to prevent further unauthorized “leaks” to the tabloids.”

During a recent court hearing, the judge denied Carey’s motion to quash the subpoena served on one of her doctors. The case is ongoing.

In her lawsuit, Mariah said she hired Lianna as her assistant in 2015. She claims Shakhnazarian “turned out to be a grifter, a Peeping (Tom)asina and an extortionist. “ She is seeking $5 million in damages.

Lianna has denied all allegations of wrongdoing and argued any mental or emotional injuries Mariah suffered were caused by her own behavior.
