Lil Nas X has created a worldwide phenomenon with his chart-topping hit, "Old Town Road," but unfortunately it's also caused a huge pain for a small town in Massachusetts.

The town of Wellesley, MA says fans of the song are flocking to one of the town's upscale neighborhoods, which happens to have a legit Old Town Rd.

People are stealing the signs as keepsakes in honor of Lil Nas X, and city officials say it's costing major money to replace.

According to the Swellesley Report, the Wellesley Department of Public Works says it costs hundreds of dollars to replace the signs, and that sometimes even the 12-ft metal poles are also taken.

If someone is caught with the stolen signs, they face a misdemeanor larceny charge that would amount in court costs.

To combat the popular prank, officials have decided not to replace the signs until the hype cools down.

However, Lil Nas X and his "Old Town Road" continue to dominate the charts and remain at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
