Lance Bass is changing his tune, coming to “Vanderpump Rules” star Jax Taylor‘s defense as Bravo fans continue to call the former SUR bartender “racist” and “homophobic.” Days after alleging that he cut ties with Taylor and their alcohol beverage business, the NSYNC singer vouched for the reality star’s character. Taking to his podcast, “The Daily Popcast With Lance Bass,” on Wednesday, June 17, the 41-year-old chalked Jax Taylor’s actions up to being “ignorant,” insisting he is not racist or homophobic.
“I do not think Jax Taylor is a racist or a homophobe and I have said that millions of times,” Lance Bass told his husband, Michael, “Turkey” Turchin during the episode. “I would not be acquaintances with someone if I thought you were a flat out racist or homophobe. It doesn’t make sense.”
“Vanderpump Rules” fans will recall that Lance Bass and Jax Taylor are much more than acquaintances. The NSYNC alum actually officiated his Kentucky wedding with Brittany Cartwright after the duo found themselves in hot water with the pastor they had originally booked.
Fans are calling on Bravo to fire the reality star after tweets aimed at ex “Pump Rules” castmate Faith Stowers resurfaced. “90 Day Fiancé” star Ashley Martson also exposed a racial comment Jax Taylor made about the size of her husbandJay Smith‘s nose.
Bringing up the incident with Jay Smith, Michael told viewers that Lance Bass tried explaining to Jax Taylor why the comment he made was wrong. “When you said on the conversation, because I heard the whole thing … It was on speaker phone … You said the comment you made about the nose … That’s not OK,” he recalled.
“Lance said, ‘I don’t think you’re racist. I don’t think you said that with the intent of being racist … but what you said is racist and you have to understand you can’t just promote these racist things.’” Lance Bass chimed in saying, “It’s like using the word ‘retarded’ … We all know that you don’t use that anymore. And if you don’t know that at this point … that’s just your ignorance.”
As The Blast reported, Bass claimed Jax “stepped down” from their alcohol company but the “Vanderpump Rules” star says that’s complete BS.
