The final season of Game of Thrones faced its fair share of backlash from unsatisfied fans, even prompting a petition to remake it that garnered over a million signatures. At Sunday night's Emmy awards, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series nominee Kit Harington was asked about how he coped with the fan response. His response? He hasn't seen it yet.

"I still haven't seen the show. So that's how I dealt with that controversy. I haven't seen the final season."

2. He Defended The Team

However, he did defend the work that he and the rest of the team did to wrap up this epic series.

"I know what it took to shoot it. And it was hard and everyone put their love and effort into it. I think for us, we knew what we were doing was right, story-wise. And we knew that it was right for the characters because we lived with them for 10 years, so controversy for us didn't really affect us."

3. Not The Only Actor To Defend The Work

Harington isn't the first actor from the series to speak out against the controversy. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau spoke out about it at a panel at Con of Thrones back in July.

"For anyone to imagine or to think that the two creators of the show are not the most passionate, the greatest, the most invested of all, and to for a second think that they didn’t spend the last 10 years thinking about how they were going to end it is kind of silly."

Coster-Waldau also explained how the "vicious" fan response was a topic of discussion in the cast's WhatsApp group chat.

"I saw some people getting a little upset because some of the stuff is vicious. There was that kind of weird feeling of, ‘What the hell? We worked so hard.' I’m not asking anyone to feel sorry, by the way. That’s not what I’m saying. I’m just saying how it was to get through that whole thing."

Jokes on those angry fans, though, as Game of Thrones picked up the statue for Outstanding Drama Series on Sunday for the final season.
