Justin Theroux said farewell to Dolly, the beloved White Shepherd he shared with Jennifer Aniston, and it appeared the couple reunited for the dog's funeral.

The "Leftovers" star shared a series of photos on his Instagram page, paying his final respects to Dolly.

"Tonight, at sunset, after a heroic struggle... our most loyal family member and protector, Dolly A. laid down her sword and shield," Theroux wrote.

He also added, "She was surrounded by her entire family."

The series of photos show two people holding hands as they comfort Dolly during her final moments. It's a safe bet (especially since Theroux said Dolly's "entire family was present") that the other hand in the photo belongs to Aniston.

Theroux ended his post with a quote, which read, "The one that never deserts, the one that never proves ungrateful... is the dog— faithful and true, even in death."

In December 2018, during an interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Aniston talked about how she named the dog after Dolly Parton and once told the singer about it.

Aniston said she thought Parton was a little offended by it but she maintains, "I just think it's cute. She's so sweet."

Dolly Parton, during an appearance on "The Talk," spoke about getting to meet Aniston's dog and how it was a little "embarrassing."

"So I got to meet the dog," she explained, "and it was embarrassing kinda because there were several people there and I'd hear her say, 'Dolly, don't pee on the couch! Don't be knocking the water bowl over.'"
