1. Anti-Hate Film Takes Us To Nazi Germany

The New Zealand filmmaker and actor plays Adolf Hitler in the movie, an imaginary friend of a boy named Jojo "Rabbit" Betzler, who lives in fascist Germany.

Jojo finds out that his mom is hiding a Jewish girl in their home, and he's forced to come to terms with his hate.

2. Captivating Cast

The movie, based on Christine Leunens' book "Caging Skies," is set for release October 18.

The film stars Scarlett Johansson, Rebel Wilson, Thomasin McKenzie, Sam Rockwell, Stephen Merchant and others.

Waititi provided his own comical description of the trailer:

"From "Visionistical" director, Teeka Wachichi, here's a "teezer traylor", for my anti-hate satire, #JojoRabbit, in theaters October 18."

3. Dark Comedy Trailer

The teaser trailer begins with boys having a good old time throwing knives, until one of them takes one in the leg. The music adds a 60s psychedelic, free-love vibe, which is overlaid with images of war and hate.

Above it all is Jojo and his friend Adolf, who appears to have a quite dark sense of humour.

4. 'Jojo Rabbit' Searching For Answers

Toward the end of the trailer, Jojo is seen confiding in Adolf about the fact that he's teased by his friends and called a "scared rabbit."

Here was Hitler's answer:

"Let them say whatever they want. People used to say a lot of nasty things about me. 'Oh, this guy's a lunatic.' 'Look at that psycho. He's gonna get us all killed.' "

Stay tuned for more on this potentially controversial film.
