Johnny Depp has another powerful Hollywood A-list actress in his corner after Penelope Cruz filed a declaration in his defamation case against ex-wife, Amber Heard. Cruz is supporting her former co-star and friend, stating she has known Depp for many years, and he has always been a kind soul.

According to Cruz’s written declaration, obtained by The Blast, she went to bat for her “Blow” co-star, explaining that she has known Depp for many years and he has never exhibited any violent behavior in any of the social or professional situations she encountered the star in. In fact, Cruz describes she was a big fan of Depp even before they had met.

"I met Johnny when I was 19 years old,” the actress wrote.

She continued, “He was in Madrid and Pedro Almodovar introduced him to me. The only sentences I knew how to say in English at that time were, ‘how are you’ and ‘I want to work with Johnny Depp.’

Cruz and Depp also appeared together on-screen in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,' and the actress explains, "Many years have passed and I have not only made 3 movies with him, but I also count on him as a great friend. I’ve always been impressed by his kindness, his brilliant mind, his talent, and his peculiar sense of humor."

The Oscar-winning actress gave some big support, going on record that "I’ve seen Johnny in so many situations and he is always kind to everyone around. He is one of the most generous people I know."

Cruz also revealed Depp was by her side during one of the most vulnerable and special moments of her life, while she was pregnant with her son, Leo Encinas Cruz.

"During six months of my first pregnancy, I spent every single day with him while we shot Pirates of the Caribbean. My husband and I will never forget the sweetness, protection, and kindness he treated me with during every single step of that process."

The star ended her declaration on an emotional note, stating “We love him very much and I feel lucky to have someone so special in our lives."

Cruz is not the only Hollywood actress to go on record for Depp during his defamation battle with Amber Heard. As we reported, Depp’s ex-girlfriend, Winona Ryder also filed a declaration claiming the allegations made by the “Aquaman” star were completely out of character.

Both declarations could be important in both Johnny Depp's legal cases against Amber Heard.

"I obviously was not there during his marriage to Amber, but, from my experience, which was so wildly different, I was absolutely shocked, confused and upset when I heard the accusations against him. The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations,” the “Stranger Things” star wrote in her filing.

Both Ryder and Cruz’s statements could become very important in the cases involving Amber Heard. If the case goes to trial, a jury will have to heavily weigh the support Depp has received from other high-powered women who have painted a much different picture of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star than what Heard has suggested.
