Johnny Depp Demands Amber Heard and His Alleged Drug Use Be Off-Limits During Assault Trial

Johnny Depp is pleading with a judge to not allow any talk about Amber Heard or his alleged drug use in his upcoming assault trial.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Depp is requesting certain topics and evidence be banned from court.

Earlier this year, Gregg “Rocky” Brooks sued Depp accusing him of assault on the film set for “City of Lies”. Depp has denied the allegations and claimed self-defense against the crew member. The trial is scheduled to begin on October 21.

In newly filed court docs, the actor is asking that Amber Heard not be mentioned to the jury.

Depp believes Brooks will try and bring up his divorce proceedings with Heard in the trial. The actor says this could “improperly sway” the jury. He says a lot of press about the divorce made him look bad.

He believes the only reason to talk about Heard is to paint him “in a bad light.”

Depp also wants any talk of his alleged drug use or drinking talked about in court. He believes it will unfairly prejudice him with the jury. He believes the alleged evidence would make the jury think he “is somehow a bad person.”

His motion reads, “It goes without saying that Mr. Depp is a world-renowned actor and celebrity. Mr. Depp's life and lifestyle are frequently the subject of articles and publications in print and electronic media, as well as on television. Many salacious headline-seeking articles have been published over the years speculating as to Mr. Depp's use of alcohol or drugs. Such "evidence" has no relevance to this case whatsoever.”

He says the evidence would be hearsay from unreliable sources. He wants an, “order excluding evidence of alleged alcohol or drug use by Mr. Depp either prior to April 12, 2017, or subsequent to April 12, 2017, as such evidence has absolutely no relevance to the facts legitimately in dispute in this case."

The judge has yet to rule.

In his lawsuit, Gregg “Rocky” Brooks accused Depp of punching him on the set of the film.

Brooks, who was a location manager, claimed he was trying to enforce permit restrictions on the set on April 13, 2017. They were filming the film about the deaths of Tupac and Biggie Smalls in Downtown Los Angeles

The location manager claimed they had a permit to shoot until 7:00 PM outside and 10:00 PM inside, and Brooks was able to get the permit extended multiple times to accommodate the actor who wanted to direct a longer version of a scene but could not get any more extension.

He then told the director the shooting would have to halt production, and the director allegedly told Brooks “Why don’t you tell that to Johnny Depp?”

Brooks went to get an on-set police officer to help him tell Depp, but before he could Depp approached him yelling, “Who the f--k are you? You have no right to tell me what to do!”

He tried to explain the situation but then Depp allegedly punched him twice in the lower side of his rib cage. Depp is accused of yelling, “I will give you $100,000 to punch me in the face right now!”

Brooks claimed Depp’s breath smelled of alcohol and said the actor's bodyguards had to intervene to stop the situation. He was fired from the film three days later when he refused to sign a release over the incident.

Depp fired back at the lawsuit demanding it be tossed out of court.

The actor denies all allegations of wrongdoing in the lawsuit and says his alleged actions were done in self-defense.

He accuses Brooks of willfully and maliciously acting out and conducting his activities in a way that made him fear for his safety on set. Further, he claims Brooks did not comply with the directions of his employer and, as a result, is demanding the entire case be dismissed.
