Jane Fonda Arrested At the Capitol Building For Climate Change Protest

Jane Fonda was arrested on Friday on the steps of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. while protesting about climate change.

A reporter for the local CBS station, WUSA, caught the moment when Fonda was detained.

"We love you, Jane," the crowd yelled as she was being led away by authorities.

The arrest comes shortly after she told the Washington Post that she was planning some civil disobedience.

She told the Post that she will demonstrate for 14 Fridays until she gets arrested.

“I’m going to take my body, which is kind of famous and popular right now because of the [Netflix] series and I’m going to go to D.C. and I’m going to have a rally every Friday,” Fonda said told The Washington Post.

“It’ll be called ‘Fire Drill Friday.’ And we’re going to engage in civil disobedience and we’re going to get arrested every Friday.”


One Friday arrest down, 13 more to go.

After the 14 "Fire Drill Fridays" the star will return to her home to film another season of her hit series, "Grace and Frankie."

The United States Capitol Police Communications Director, Eva Malecki said that "16 people have been arrested for unlawfully demonstrating on the East Front to the U.S. Capitol," in a statement to PEOPLE."

All the people that have been arrested have been chased with crowding, obstructing or incommoding.
