Halsey wasn't exaggerating when she said she was on the frontlines during a Los Angeles protest over the weekend, but she wasn't there alone. The "Without Me" singer jumped into action and played a nurse with her ex-boyfriend Yungblud to assist those wounded while protesting George Floyd's death. The 25-year-old channeled her mom, who is a real-life EMT, to help crowd members that had been shot with rubber bullets and teargassed by police officers during what she says was a peaceful protest.
Days after protesting, Halsey shared photos from her intense moments with Yungblud over the weekend. Showing the exes treating those suffering on the streets, Halsey and her former boyfriend wore rubber gloves and face masks while assisting the wounded. Getting on her hands and knees to help those in need, Halsey proved to be not only an activist but also a hero. "It’s become very clear to me that some of you need to see what I’ve seen," she captioned the photos.

Saying these pictures and videos "don’t even scratch the surface," the singer wrote, "It’s easy from the comfort of your home to watch looting and rioting on television and condone the violent measures being taken by forces. But what you don’t see is innocent peaceful protestors being shot at and tear gassed and physically assaulted relentlessly." Asking her followers if they think "the police are keeping you safe " the successful singer fired back, "You’re wrong. This is happening everywhere."

"With all of our medical professionals being CONSUMED and EXHAUSTED with Covid, there is little to no medical attention available. I have first hand treated men women and children who have been shot in the chest, the face, the back. Some will lose vision some have lost fingers. I have been covered in innocent blood," Halsey wrote. Explaining what this week has been like for her, she added, "My father is a black man. My mother is an EMT. This week I had to put those two associations together in ways that have horrified me."
Pleading with her fans, "Please care. We are begging you to care," she concluded her powerful message by stating, "This is war on Americans. This is everyone’s problem. Everyone’s. #BLACKLIVESMATTER." As The Blast reported, Halsey claims she was shot twice with rubber bullets by cops over the weekend. She also pledged to donate $100k to various organizations including donating $25k to an anti-Minneapolis police group. George Floyd was unarmed when he lost his life while pleading for help as a white officer pinned him to the ground. The tragic incident went down on Monday, May 25, and has sparked outrage all over the country.
