Geena Davis maintains she and Reza Jarrahy were never legally married and is backing up her case by using a letter signed by Jarrahy in 2012 in which he stated: "I am not currently married."

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Davis claims she and Jarrahy "knowingly and voluntarily chose to have a marriage-like ceremony, fully aware that it was not legally binding."

She says the couple had every opportunity to get a marriage license but chose not to.

Davis claims that both she and Jarrahy always filed their taxes as "single." She says they always kept their finances separate and "never had a joint checking or savings account, never had a joint retirement account" and never owned property together.

As part of her filing, Davis included a letter signed by Jarrahy in 2012 on his own letterhead. The letter stated, "I filed my tax returns in 2009 as a single individual because I am not currently married. Ms. Davis and I cohabitate and co-parent our three children but are not officially wed."

Davis goes on to claims Jarrahy is not even covered under her SAG-AFTRA health plan because he "does not qualify as a family member."

As The Blast previously reported, Geena Davis believes the divorce should be dismissed because the couple was never legally married.

Davis and Jarrahy were married for nearly 17 years before he filed for divorce in May. The couple share 13-year-old twin sons, Kaiis and Kian, as well as a 16-year-old daughter, Alizeh.

Davis was previously married to Richard Emmolo, Jeff Goldblum, and director Renny Harlin.
