Drake is currently relaxing in Barbados, but why is here there, of all places? Some say that besides just partying, Drake's actually looking for Rihanna. Barbados is her home country, so naturally he would think to look for her there.

Drake's followers on Instagram kept joking that this was his secret mission: to hook up with Riri.

According to Hollywood Life, Drake referred to his former girlfriend in his freestyle "War," which was released last December.

In the rap, Drake mentions a "bad girl," which is of course Rihanna's handle on Instagram. He also talks of "munchies," since Rihanna has also been known to sing about marijuana as well and has been seen in pictures holding a blunt now and again.

“The women I do end up with has to be a bad girl just like Munchies," Drake says, and we know Rihanna fits the bill.

Early in the 2010s, the two were rumored to be dating. Then of course there's Drake's appearance at the MTV VMAs, where he said he had been "in love" with Rihanna since he was 22.

In 2016, Drake presented her with the Vanguard award at the VMAs, but Rihanna wasn't super happy with all the attention he was giving her.

“Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part. I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast," Rihanna said.

After the Vanguard kerfuffle, Rihanna and Drake seemed to be putting things behind them. Even though he rapped on the remix of her song "Lemon" with N.E.R.D.

Later, in 2018, Rihanna said the two didn't "have a friendship," according to an interview for Vogue.

“But we’re not enemies either. It is what it is.”

So, whatever that means.

More recently, Rihanna had been dating Hassan Jameel, although those two have split.

It could have been because they had been living separate lives. Jameel is a Saudi businessman and a billionaire. And a source told Business Insider, “Their lives were too different and it was hard to maintain a relationship."

She's also spoken to Interview about finding a balance between work and love.

"It’s only the last couple years that I started to realize that you need to make time for yourself, because your mental health depends on it," she said.

The middle of a pandemic hardly seems the right time to get involved in a new relationship in which people could get hurt. But maybe Drake's in a different place than she is -- it wouldn't be the first time.
