In early April, Doja Cat released her first single of 2021 in "Kiss Me More," featuring SZA. Doja and SZA collaborating was something that fans of both artists had been waiting to happen for a while. Following its release, listeners believe that the two delivered and had a huge hit on their hands. That was the case for sure as Kiss Me More went on to debut at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is currently No. 8.
Doja Loves How Well SZA Did On The Single
Doja appeared in a new interview with "Capital XTRA Breakfast with Yinka and Shayna Marie" and discussed getting together with SZA in creating the "Kiss Me More" single. She believes they have similar upbringing and that SZA was "perfect" for this collab, an opinion that plenty of her fans feel as well.
“I feel like me and SZA are similar in the way that we're kinda like, we both grew up with spiritual kind of, spiritual backgrounds, but, I mean, she was perfect for this song,”
Doja Says SZA Was 'In Her Heart' When Writing 'Kiss Me More'
Doja continued to praise SZA heavily as she explained how SZA was "in her heart" when writing this single and how she adds "depth" to everything she does. To Doja, SZA really took Kiss Me More to another meaning.
“I feel like I say this every time. She was in my heart when I wrote this and I needed her to be on the hook, and I needed her to put a verse because she brings just, a depth to everything that she does. I went in writing the song, thinking it was just going to be about kissing and have silly, goofy metaphors for kissing, and things like that, but she took it to a level of like, I need love."
'Kiss Me More' To Appear On Doja's Upcoming Album
"Kiss Me More" continues to do very well on the charts and now, the wait is on for Doja's sophomore album. The project is titled "Planet Her" but currently, there is no official release date finalized. No information regarding other singles have been revealed yet but, last month, it was rumored that The Weeknd will be appearing on this forthcoming album. This would be Doja's first album since her sophomore project, "Hot Pink," back in November 2019.
Doja Could Earn Her First No. 1 Album With 'Planet Her'
When Doja put out "Hot Pink" in 2019, it had a very solid debut as it peaked at No. 9. It was led by hits such as her breakout hit single, "Say So," as well as "Like That" feat. Gucci Mane and "Juicy" feat. Tyga. When" Planet Her" is finally released, Doja is expected to top the Billboard 200 chart. It would be her first album as in 2020, she scored her first No. 1 single with her "Say So" remix feat. Nicki Minaj.
