The 13th version of the BBC's "Doctor Who" is being played by a woman, Jodie Whittaker, which is great in itself, but her new outfit is also receiving rave reviews.

Whittaker is seen in a new promo pic for the show, with the rest of the cast, looking stoic and ready for the next adventure.

A Nod To 007

She's wearing a tuxedo for a couple reasons. One is that you can't fly through space and time in a dress, and the other is because the show is paying tribute to that other well-dressed hero, James Bond.

@funkfingers wrote, “Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor proving once again that bow ties are cool while slipping in a possible nod to being the next 007.”

Showrunner Hopes To Revitalize Series

There are other new developments for the longstanding franchise besides Whittaker playing the famed Doctor for Season 12, such as a new TARDIS.

There's also a new show runner, Chris Chibnall, who says he knew right away she was perfect for the part:

“She just walked into the room and she was the Doctor."

Willing To Do What It Takes

Whittaker really wanted the job. For her second audition, she sent in video of her defusing a fake bomb.

“I got a shoebox and filled it with iPhone wires and cables and I defused a bomb and I absolutely nailed it,” Whittaker said.

Though it got her the part, she apparently deleted the video right after she sent it because she was embarrassed by it.
