Dennis Quaid Claims That His Fourth Marriage Will Be His 'Final' One

While promoting his new movie Midway, Dennis Quaid, 65, has been opening up about his relationship and recent engagement to 26-year-old PhD student Laura Savoie. He told Extra all about his proposal in Hawaii.
"It happened on the very northernmost point of Oahu, at Turtle Bay. It was kind of spontaneous. It was very much a surprise. I had the ring in my pocket… It has been kind of a month-and-a-half plan… I wanted it to be private. She was actually taking a selfie of us, and I put the ring in front and said, 'Will you marry me?' — and then she fell down."

Quaid stopped by The View on Tuesday and explained that his fourth marriage to Savoie was going to be his "final" one.
"I just know. I really found a partner in life. [This time is the] fourth and final -- this is it. She's really fantastic. She has a double master's right now in economics and business. She's just a soulful, wonderful, beautiful person."
Savoie is 39 years younger than Quaid and roughly the same age as his actor son Jack.

Quaid had previously told The Guardian that he wasn't looking for such a young partner. It just happened that way.
"No, it really doesn’t bother us. Everyone comes from the perspective of their own life and so I can’t comment on the way they feel; I can’t even get angry.
I didn’t go out looking for an age gap or someone really younger than me. I met her at a business event and then the relationship developed.
You have no control over who you fall in love with. I don’t fall in love easily. But I can’t let what a few people think control all that. I’ve been married three times and this is the final one, I know it is. I feel like I have a real partner in life."

This will be the fourth marriage for Quaid. His first marriage was to P.J. Soles from 1978 until 1983, and then he was married to Meg Ryan for ten years that ended in 2001. The couple shares one son.
After Ryan, Quaid was married to Kimberly Buffington for 12 years until they divorced in 2018. The couple shares twins.
