Cardi B is being sued for $10 million by for her former manager, Klenord "Shaft" Raphael, for not only allegedly breaking their contract but also defaming him by claiming he robbed her.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Shaft claims he "conceived, arranged and orchestrated Cardi B’s rise to become the biggest music sensation on the planet." He says that her "rapid rise as a recording artist and performer is attributable to Shaft."
Shaft claims Cardi had never rapped or performed until they met and says he is responsible for getting her on VH1's "Love & Hip Hop."
After that newfound fame, Shaft claims he enlisted his "stable of producers and writers that he managed to create music for her." He also says he is the one that secured her deal with Atlantic Records.
Shaft claims their relationship began to go south after Cardi B's stylist told her that Shaft was “robbing” Cardi B and cheating her out of money by making side deals at her expense.
Over time, Shaft claims Cardi B began to listen to "the lies" and eventually cut ties with him and jumped to Quality Control Management (as first reported by Variety last month).
Shaft is suing Cardi B for breach of contract and defamation and is seeking $10,000,000 in damages. He's also suing QC for interfering in his deal and is also looking for $10 million.
