'Captain America' Actress Accused Of Fatally Stabbing Mother, Charged With Second Degree Murder

Mollie Fitzgerald has been accused of killing her mother before the holidays. The "Captain America: The First Avenger" actress has been arrested and is currently held on a $500k bail at the Johnson County Jail. Fitzgerald, 38, reportedly attacked her mom, Patricia “Tee” Fitzgerald, inside her Olathe, Kansas home on Dec. 20. Mollie Fitzgerald has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of her mother. The actress had a minor role in the popular 2011 Marvel film where she played Stark Girl.

According to the Kansas City Star, her mom was in the process of moving back to Kansas City from Texas when she was murdered. Mollie Fitzgerald's IMDB states that she mostly worked on independent short films as a director and actress. After "Captain America: The First Avenger" was released, the actress sat down with ComicBookMovie.com, where she talked about her "small role" and the experience on set with the movie's A-listers including Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and Tommy Lee Jones.

“Being a part of this production has been one of the best experiences of my life,” Mollie Fitzgerald told the website in 2011. She described how priceless her time on set was by stating, “You can’t pay for the experience I’ve had.” According to Mollie's IMDB, her producing and directing credits include films like "The Creeps" and "The Lawful Truth." Speaking to the Kansas City Star, Mollie Fitzgerald's brother, Gary Hunziker, addressed the unexpected death of his sister. "We were shocked," he said. "It doesn't matter the circumstances -- the loss of a sister is what it's all about." Her mother was 68 years old.
