Beyonce seemed to snub Joaquin Phoenix during the 2020 Golden Globes on Sunday night. Though we can't be totally sure, she most likely did not actually snub the actor. But since she was practically the only one in the room who didn't stand up to applaud Phoenix, people began to talk.

Phoenix was given the award for Best Actor in Motion Picture, Drama, for his role as the Joker in the movie of the same name.

The actor received a standing ovation from nearly everyone in the room at the Golden Globes -- except for Beyonce. And it was not like she could hide under the table. She was wearing these huge, gold puffy sleeves, so when everyone else stood up and she didn't, it made a few waves.

Fans sure noticed the moment, and spoke out about it.

"Beyoncé sitting during the standing ovation for Joaquin Phoenix's win is the type of energy I want to see from everyone in 2020," wrote one person, while others thought the move was rather rude.

"Out of respect, she should've stood up. Wtf," said one.

"You're a joke for not standing up for Joaquin Phoenix. Understandable to make a statement. But that's just poor sportsmanship for someone that actually deserved recognition," said another.

The Beyhive appeared to offer what they thought were some valid explanations for Beyonce's non-move.

One theory centered around her gold and black dress, which some thought would wreak havoc as Phoenix went past her. It's not like he was on the other side of the room.

The criticism and discourse spread far and wide.

@kenhunlee said:

"Beyoncé really had the nerve to show up late to the Golden Globes and then not stand for Joaquin Phoenix."

Someone else on Twitter wanted people to take a step back and just chill.

"Let's not create any mess here. She most likely didn't stand because she would be in way when he walked by. She smiled and clapped."

Still, it looked weird to see her sitting there, though she was smiling and applauding.

It's entirely possible it was just a wardrobe safety precaution.

"Hoes mad because Beyonce didnt stand for Joaquin Phoenix but they fail to realize it was literally out of respect. Her big ass dress would've blocked the view and distracted from his moment. Yall are disgusting," wrote @alazayaxo.

Half the time, you couldn't see her neck because of the sleeves.

Others noticed that Beyonce clearly was standing when Kate McKinnon went up on stage to present the Carol Burnett award to Ellen DeGeneres.

"Beyonce was standing when Kate McKinnon was talking about being gay but didnt stand up when joaquin phoenix won.. Yes i trust her with my life," said @dykedolores.

So what was that about?
