Bam Margera is currently on his way to check in to a rehabilitation facility to deal with his demons, and we're told his family paid a huge part in getting him to agree to go.
Sources close to the situation tell The Blast, the former "Jackass" star agreed Monday to seek help for substance abuse and mental health after sitting down for an interview with Dr. Phil.
We're told Margera and Phil spoke for three hours, and at the end, "Bam agreed to go away for help."
We're told the star left immediately after taping with Dr. Phil on the Paramount Lot in L.A.
The program Margera agreed to enter is a live-in facility that will aggressively work with him for an extended period of time, which can be anywhere from 60 - 90 days.
We're told during the interview with Phil, Margera's mother, April, Skyped in to speak with him.
Margera's wife, Nikki, was also available and actually appeared in person to speak with her husband and urge him to get help.
We're told Margera left the meeting with Dr. Phil in very good spirits, and everyone is hopeful he will be able to conquer his addiction with the proper treatment.
Margera posted about the meeting while on his way to treatment, writing, "Dr. Phil is the greatest, he secretly flew out nikki and phoenix wolf, had my mom on standby. Got down to thebroot of the problem and isolated it down with no one interupting eeachother. Pr. Phil “bambis not crazy, he is extremely frustrated with certain issues, ban is not crazy!”
Our source did stress, that Bam's recovery will be up to him, and that he's got a long road ahead of him.
As we reported, the meeting with Dr. Phil came on the heels of a long weekend for Margera filled with rants against his family and friends.
He had been rallying for a meeting with the TV show therapist, which is exactly what he got. Unfortunately, Dr. Phil's TV show was on hiatus, so whatever was taped will not be aired until September.
It's unclear when exactly Margera will be checking in to the facility, but this will be his 4th attempt at rehab.
Good luck, Bam!
