On Sunday night, the show crowned the latest champion, and as always the winner was announced by Ryan Seacrest. But, as the host got closer to the final moment, many fans pointed out he began slurring his words, and his right eye started appearing larger than the left.
Ryan’s odd behavior stirred up Twitter, with many concerned fans pointing out something was wrong with the host.
“I’m a speech-language pathologist and just watched Ryan Seacrest at the end of the American Idol show. His right eye and corner of the right side of his mouth both appeared to droop on air. He seemed disoriented momentarily and his speech sounded slurred,” one person tweeted.
Another added, “I was wondering the same thing if he was having a small stroke. I hope that’s not the case.”
A few fans started pointing out it appeared as if Seacrest may have had some sort of stroke. “Did he have a stroke?” one fan asked. Adding, “His eye was fine all night until the top 2 results were read.”

Many fans became increasingly concerned and sent messages to the judges, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, saying things like — “Not making light of this. He went from normal to his speech being off and his eye shutting halfway.”
But, Ryan’s representatives have just addressed the situation and say he did NOT suffer a stroke. They claim he is just simply a bit overworked.
“Ryan did not have any kind of stroke last night,” his publicist told People.com — adding, “Like many people right now, Ryan is adjusting to the new normal and finding work-home balance, with the added stress of having to put on live shows from home.”
They continued, “Between Live with Kelly and Ryan, American Idol, On-Air with Ryan Seacrest, and the Disney Family Singalong specials, he has been juggling three to four on-air jobs over the last few weeks and he’s in need of rest. So today he took a well-deserved day off.”
As for the show, American Idol crowned Samantha “Just Sam” Diaz the winner of this season’s show.
The young star, who used to sing in the subway, said “My grandmother has been saying that she doesn’t believe that people like us can have their dreams come true…This is proof to her!”
