Abby Lee Miller is officially a free woman having just been released from a halfway house but now she's already gotten herself into a different kind of trouble.
Miller posted a photo to Instagram about her newfound freedom and used one of the most famous quotes from Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.
"TIMES UP!!!! 'Free at last, Free at last, Thank God almighty we are free at last,'" the "Dance Moms" star wrote in the caption. ?♀️
The quote is, of course, from MLK Jr.'s famous speech at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom back in 1963. On that day, the civil rights activist called for an end to racism and dreamed of a world where black Americans had social and economic equality.
The reality star's appropriation of the words to signal her gratitude for being released from a halfway house struck a nerve with the public.
Miller also seemed to touch on Time's Up in her caption, though her use of the phrase doesn't seem to be connected to the movement. She was out of the loop while the movement to fight sexual harassment and gender discrimination gained popularity, so maybe we can give her a pass on that one.
Abby Lee Miller recently spent a year in prison after pleading guilty to felony bankruptcy fraud. The dance honcho was recently living in a halfway house where she was ordered to stay following her stint in prison. She also revealed to People last month that she is battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
We've reached out to Millers rep for comment about this latest incident.
