Abby Lee Miller's Doc Reveals She Has Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Abby Lee Miller has received a troubling medical diagnosis following emergency surgery for what was thought to be a back infection.

Miller's doctor confirmed to PEOPLE that the "Dance Moms" star was given a preliminary diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is a cancer of the lymphatic system.

“We’re getting an oncologist involved and we have to figure out what the next steps are as far as chemotherapy or radiation or more spine surgery," said Dr. Hooman M. Melamed. "Depending on the tumor type, depending on the sensitivity of the tumor – it just depends the type but I feel more than yes, she will undergo chemotherapy or radiation.”

Earlier this week, Miller had been suffering from excruciating neck pain and underwent an emergency procedure without which her doctor said, "she was going to die."

Dr. Melamed says he is optimistic about the reality star's prognosis but doesn't have much to base that on just yet.

“There’s a chance this can spread to any part of the body … this is probably coming from somewhere else,” he said to PEOPLE. “We don’t know where the source is."

According to Miller's doctor, she is currently recovering from her procedure and regaining sensation in her body. She will have to undergo a battery of tests to discover the severity of her cancer.

Abby Lee Miller was recently released from prison after serving time for bankruptcy fraud and has been staying in a halfway house.
