XXXTentacion's Murder Suspect Accuses Police of Violating His Rights, Demands Testimony Be Thrown Out

One of the four men accused of murdering XXXTentacion claims police violated his rights when questioning him, and is demanding his testimony not be allowed in court.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Michael Boatwright has filed a motion to suppress testimony he gave police.

Boatwright is currently behind bars awaiting his trial. He has been preparing his defense for the case.

In newly filed documents, Boatwright’s lawyer claims on July 5, 2018, his client was arrested on an unrelated drug charge and transported to the Broward Sheriff’s Office interrogation room.

He claims a homicide detective who was investigating Boatwright as a possible suspect in the murder of XXXTentacion immediately began asking him a series of “background” questions.

Boatwright says eight minutes into the questioning he told the officer he “don’t wanna talk no more.”

However, his lawyer says police did not stop the interview and continued asking questions. The officer then had someone come into the room and take photos and DNA from Boatwright.

Boatwright’s lawyer claims the officer only then read his client his Miranda Rights. Boatwright claims he continued remaining silent but did answer some questions. The officer allegedly said, “Just tell me to fuck off then. So I know you’re done.”

His lawyer says Boatwright “maintained his absolute innocence but made a number of statements which the State may attempt to portray as incriminating at trial.” Boatwright takes issue with the police officer continuing questioning him despite his protests. He claims this is in violation of the United States Constitutions and wants his statements to be suppressed. A judge has yet to rule.

Boatwright has also recently filed docs informing the court he plans to depose XXXtentacion’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, along with the rapper’s baby mama, Jenesis Sanchez

The Blast

XXXtentacion’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, has been dealing with other issues in court relating to her late son’s estate. She been battling her son’s former friend/music producer James H. Duval (aka Jimmy Duval) and Stache Records over $1 million they claim to be owed.

The claim stated they were owed money that was due now and relating to "royalties, contribution, breach of contract/copyright infringement regarding the production marketing and distribution" of the song "Look at Me," which Duval claims to have written.

The probate case was opened following the rapper's murder and the estate is run by his mother, who he appointed in the will he drafted before his death.

A Florida judge also granted a petition filed by XXX’s baby mama, Jenesis Sanchez, allowing her to obtain a sample of his DNA from the medical examiner, to help establish paternity.

The court also shut down Bernard in her attempt to block Sanchez from getting the sample.

XXXTentacion’s father Dwayne Onfroy also showed up to court as part of his son’s estate, seeking to be included in decisions about his music, business, and money.

Dwayne only filed documents notifying the court he is making an appearance and wants to be notified of all future proceedings. He has not given a full explanation of why he is now showing up to court wanting to be included.

XXXTentacion was murdered on June 18, 2018. Four men were arrested and charged for their role in the murder and are awaiting trial.
