Actor Michael K. Williams died from acute intoxication of a deadly combination of drugs and the list of narcotics found in his system is truly shocking.
According to the New York Medical examiner, ‘The Wire’ star passed away from a drug overdose that included a mix of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine. A spokesperson for the NY Office of the Chief Medical Examiner also revealed the death was ruled an accident.
“Having released this determination, (the office) will not comment further on the investigation,” the spokesperson said.
As we reported, an investigation was launched into how exactly the beloved actor ended up with a fatal dose of fentanyl which was most likely laced in the heroin or cocaine. Investigators are attempting to track drug dealers who might have been in contact with the actor and get to the original source.

The five-time Emmy nominated actor was discovered face down in his New York apartment by a family member. The actor who played popular character Omar Little on ‘The Wire’ was in the dining room of his luxury pad with what appeared to be heroin on the kitchen table. According to one report, the actor was scheduled to appear at an event two days earlier but never showed up at the location. So, a family member went to check on him and found him unresponsive. Police officers say the person reported him feeling “cold” after dialing 911.
Williams has been very open about his struggles with substance abuse and said the situation plagued him while shooting ‘The Wire.’

In a 2016 interview, Michael K. revealed he had stumbled into a church in New Jersey after a lengthy drug bender to seek help with his addiction. “When I came through those doors, I was broken. … This was, I would say, around the … third season of ‘The Wire,’” Williams said.

He continued, “I was on drugs. … I was in jeopardy of destroying everything I had worked so hard for, and I came in those doors, and I met a man who had never even heard of ‘The Wire,’ much less watched it.” The actor later revealed that his character on the popular tv show, who robbed drug dealers, affected him in real life.
At this point, New York investigators are not revealing if they have a suspect in their sights, and it’s unclear if they have executed any search warrants in this case. Williams isn’t the first celebrity to die from a drug overdose in the New York area. As you know, Heath Ledger and Philip Seymour Hoffman both passed away after consuming narcotics purchased on the streets. DJ AM also died after consuming multiple illegal substances.
