Christina Applegate Praised By James Marsden: 'Nothing Is Going To Keep Her Down'

James Marsden was full of praise for his "Dead To Me" American co-star Christina Applegate who is currently battling multiple sclerosis.

Marsden showered compliments on the actress, expressing to ET's Matt Cohen just how resilient she is. He referred to the actress as "inspiring" and went on to say,

"That is her character. It is just who she is. Nothing is going to keep her down, and she is going to battle and fight through anything, and I admire her as a person."

The singer described Applegate as a compassionate, wonderful human being who is fun to work with and always figures out a way to prevent her obstacles from weighing her down.

In August, The Blast shared that the mother-of-one publicized her MS diagnosis, which she received "a few months ago." Speaking on her life with MS, her tweet via her official Twitter account partly read,

"A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition."

The Emmy winner said, "the road has been tough since she was diagnosed," but she assured fans that the road keeps going. "Unless some a hole blocks it," she joked. 

The third season of the star's Netflix show has been temporarily paused pending her treatment. In a statement to ET, Netflix and CBS Studios showed support and love to Applegate.

The production companies also expressed their respect for her privacy while the "Friends" star takes time to heal.

The "Married… With Children" icon inspired others when she shared a poignant quote from her friends who also battle MS, "We wake up and take the indicated action."

Shortly after the 49-year-old shared her truth to the world, her post was met with a flood of support from fans, friends, and other MS patients, according to The Blast.

A fellow patient who had been battling MS commented, "You got this… It's manageable and you will crush it!"

Others shared tips that worked for them as they battle the disease, such as yoga and a new diet. Some followers noted she should avoid looking up the condition on the internet.

Applegate's "The Sweetest Thing" co-star Selma Blair who has been battling and sharing her journey with MS since 2018, named some of the symptoms as brain fog and the occasional trip and fall. 

Blair has proven MS is not a prison sentence and refuses to let it slow her down even if it makes her walk with a cane.

Despite Applegate's full plate, she showed a heart of gold in December 2020, when she made the struggles of two sickle cell anemia patients her own.

Sisters Kimora, 11, and Kylie Van Sciver, 9, at the time, needed bone marrow donors to save their lives, and the "Bad Moms" star used her platform to help in their search for a match.

PEOPLE reported that, about ten years ago, the Emmy winner also tried to save brothers Keane and Ethan, who suffered from a genetic blood disorder. 

The "Dead To Me" star was not a match, but she encouraged others to get swabbed until a 34-year-old woman in Germany became Keane and Ethan's life-saving hero.

Applegate appears to be as inspiring as Marsden describes, and MS looks like no match for her fighting spirit.
