Actress Debra Messing fired shots at Kim Kardashian over her upcoming gig on "Saturday Night Live," questioning the need for the star's presence on the late-night show.
A tweet released by "Variety" mentioned that the socialite would host the next season of SNL, as would actors Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, and Rami Malek.
Shortly after it was announced that the TV personality would be hosting SNL for the first time on October 9th, the 53-year-old decided to express her confusion.
Messing's Tweet
The "Will and Grace" star took to her official Twitter account to ask the public the following,
"Why Kim Kardashian? I mean, I know she is a cultural icon, but SNL has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch. Am I missing something?"
The mother-of-four appeared to be unfazed by the criticism as she reposted the news to her social media, writing, "OMFG no turning back now!!!! LOL, I'm hosting SNL!!!!!! @nbcsnl."
A source had initially expressed to ET Online that Kim is very excited to be a host on SNL, and she plans to poke fun at herself and family members as she has a great sense of humor.

The source went on to say that the businesswoman takes all she does seriously and has many notable comedian friends to learn from.
The Upcoming SNL Performance
The SKIMS founder is preparing to display her skills on the long-running NBC comedy series on October 9th.
The former star of the E! series "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" will host the show accompanied by musician Halsey.
Other hosts for the 47th season of the show include Grammy winners Kacey Musgraves and Young Thug on October 2nd and October 23rd, respectively.
The upcoming show will be broadcast live on NBC. Peacock also plans to live-stream the first four episodes beginning with the premiere on October 2nd at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT.
Messing Vs. Trump
It appears this is not Messing's first time expressing her unfiltered thoughts on Twitter.
In 2019, The Blast reported that the mother-of-one traded virtual blows with Donald Trump after she called for the release of the names of attendees for his Hollywood fundraiser.
The quarrel began on Twitter that Sunday morning when the 53-year-old asked the media to investigate who would attend the re-election Hollywood gala holding in September.
Her tweet was released on August 31st in response to a story uploaded by The Hollywood Reporter that detailed the date and location of the fundraiser. Messing wrote,
"Please print a list of all attendees, please. The public has a right to know."
Trump replied that he was yet to forget that he announced he would be on "The Apprentice" that NBC's "failed lineup" was saved.
He then tagged the actress who he claimed came to thank him and called him "sir."
Messing rebutted, tagging the now ex-President to a thread containing a partial list of people who have been deceased from gun violence. She then requested a ban on assault weapons.
"The Wedding Date" star also tweeted to Trump to release his tax returns. One thing is clear; Messing is not afraid to express her thoughts to anyone on social media.
