Gabby Petito Update: Search Still on For Brian Laundrie

Police are resuming their search Tuesday for Brian Laundrie, the fiancé of Gabby Petito who has been missing since last week.
The search is currently being conducted on the Venice side of the Carlton Reserve, a nature reserve that is near the family’s home and expands 25,000 acres in North Port, Florida. The search is meant to track what happened between the young couple during their travels through the American west and hopefully fish out Laundrie who allegedly headed that way after leaving home on Sept. 14.
The 23-year-old returned to his parent’s home on Sept.1 after a cross-country road trip without his fiancé and provided no explanation as to where she could be.
What’s New
The case that has become a popular topic among the media is only getting weirder as authorities believe that Laundrie got a good head start over them when he took off last week.
Vast Land
The Carlton Reserve that authorities have been searching since 8 a.m. this morning is vast and while the search was initially called off on Monday without success, the police are there today to search once again.
The state Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Adam Brown says the search is proving to be challenging. The police agreed with Brown. “Please be aware, the Carlton Reserve is a vast and unforgiving location at times. It is currently waste deep in water in many areas.”
They continued. “This is dangerous work for the search crews as they are wading through gator and snake-infested swamps and flooded hiking and biking trails.”
Why Is Brian Running?
Laundrie is not doing himself any favors by pulling this disappearing act. The influencer was only home for two weeks before he took off again. Police questioned his parents who insisted that their son is an adult, and they cannot keep tabs on him.
This response did not go over well with the authorities. Cheryl Dorsey, a retired Los Angeles police sergeant told CNN that Laundrie’s parents’s not alerting authorities to their son leaving speaks volumes.
“I get that he's a grown man,” said Dorsey, noting that he is in his twenties. “What influence, if any, do (his parents) have over him? He decides to go backpacking and they couldn't stop him?” she points out.
No Charges Yet
Again, Laundrie has not been charged with anything in fact at this point, police only want to speak with him to put some pieces together. Unfortunately, he has not been cooperating with the police.
In the meantime, the FBI has gotten involved by issuing a search warrant on Monday for Laundrie's parent's Christopher and Roberta Laundrie’s home, where the young couple lived together, and police will continue their search of the reserve.
