Last night was lit in Los Angeles as the Primetime Emmy awards event came to town.
The red carpet for the 73rd award ceremony commenced early on Sunday afternoon to the delight of viewers around the world.
After last year’s ceremony was done virtually due to the pandemic, viewers got to see their favorites, step out to showcase their fashion tastes with different designs and ensembles.
Though the Emmys red carpet has seen most celebs slay on it, sometimes some fail to impress with their sartorial experiments.
Here’s a list of some of the worst dressed celebs at the Emmys this year.
Emma Corrin & Gillian Anderson
Right off the bat, “The Handmaid’s Tale” star Emma Corrin turned up on the red carpet in a very unconventional ensemble designed by Miu Miu.
It consisted of a sleeveless yellow dress that looked amorphous and matched with a pair of offbeat yellow gloves. The gloves ran the length of her arms and revealed pointed black fingernails.
She completed the look with a matching yellow bonnet fastened under her chin. The swim-cap-like bonnet made a lot of viewers assume that the star was there for a quick dip and nothing more.

Moments after her pictures appeared on social media, she was already the butt of several jibes. One user on Twitter said, “It’s like if a stick of butter had a baby with a cat.”
LA Times writer, Adam Tschorn also tweeted “Emma Corrin is going right from the #Emmys2021 to the swim meet with that fashion bonnet.”
Similarly, Corrin’s co-star, Gillian Anderson appeared putting on a cloth that looked worse for wear.
The Chloé designed dress was split into two parts, a long skirt with fringes at the hem and a sleeveless top, both made from a rough looking fabric.
The top of the dress also had some metal adorned ropes attached to it, which gave off some jungle vibes as it swung around her.
Aidy Bryant & Madeline Brewer
Star of “Saturday Night Live” show, Aidy Bryant graced the Emmys in a moss green gown designed by Simone Rocha.
The dress was embroidered with floral details and accompanied with a red headband and red basket bag.
This could have been a good choice for a picnic in the woods, but the cloth completely looked out of place on the esteemed Emmys red carpet.
Another star from “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Madeline Brewer, stepped out in a look that had heads turning but not necessarily for good reasons.
Her shiny copper dress worn with nothing underneath felt more like a sexy bedroom lingerie particularly given its ultra-low-cut neckline.
She also adorned herself with several gold ornaments and a cobalt colored sandal to finish the look.
The Sullivan Duo
For men, dressing up for award shows should be as simple as ABC. All they need to do is slip on a black tux or suit and show up.
Unfortunately, Chris Sullivan decided to go against the norm by dabbling into a book of experiments.
His choice of clothing for the event was a very bold brown and black tux that featured a shiny finish, ensuring that he stood out in the crowd.
The stripes on the suit left many wondering if the idea for the ensemble was spawned from a trip to the safari.

His wife, Rachel, followed in his footsteps as she donned a blue geometric-patterned lady suit. Both suits were designed by Courtney Mays.
Amy Poehler, Issa Rae & Amber Ruffin
Last but certainly not the least, are these trio of funny women in the industry.
Amy Poehler threw on a dress that had some pizzazz but topped it up with a black satin blazer and gold hand purse that completely mismatched itself.
Issa Rae, the co-creator of HBO’s comedy series “Insecure,” looked nearly nude in a reflective see-through gown tailored by Aliétte and worn with a skimpy pair of undergarments.
If hair and makeup were the criteria for best dressed, late-night talk show host Amber Ruffin would have won it by a mile.
However, her classic pale blue one-shoulder gown had a thick pink floral embroidery that made it seem like she placed it there as an afterthought.
