Shawn Mendes & Ex Hailey Bieber Had An Awkward Run-In At The Met

Shawn Mendes and Hailey Bieber ran into one another at the Met Gala this year. The encounter is no doubt awkward AF, and the duo is getting called out.

The video posted on TikTok showed Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Bieber running into Shawn Mendes and his girlfriend Camila Cabello. What should have been a quick 'hi' and maybe a comment or two on the women’s stunning dresses, turned into an awkward silence kind of moment.

The couple embrace one another and exchanged pleasantries but the once vibrant and lively chat got a bit quiet and needless to say, it was time to get out of there.

The couple had been recording their entire day getting ready for the Met Gala because who wouldn’t? they may not get invited next year, right? Seize the moment. But along with the highs, the quick eight-minute video also had a few lows, and that moment was one of them.

The awkward moment has a history behind it. Mendes and Hailey used to date. The two spent a while dodging dating rumors when the model first split from Bieber before reuniting and marrying.

Mendes shared some details on his brief romance with Hailey to Elle back in 2018. “I don’t even wanna put a title on it,” said the “Treat You Better” singer. "I think it was more of a zone of limbo.”

The couple was seen on Halloween of that year cuddling up at a party in Mendes’s hometown of Toronto. They also went to the Met Gala that year as one another’s date. However, the 24-year-old ended up getting back with Bieber and becoming a wife.

Whether the Canadian singer likes it or not, the moment has gone viral and the awkward exchange has been getting roasted all over social media. Fans are still confused about what went wrong seeing as the couples were laughing and smiling.

Bieber, at one point, talks about Mendes's gala look. “You went with the no shirt vibes I like it,” claimed the “Peaches” singer who told his fellow Canadian to “flaunt it if you got it”.

The other awkward moment that fans noticed was while the guys were having a laugh, Hailey refused to make eye contact with her ex or the "Don't Go Yet" singer. She even kind of brushed off Cabello who was clearly trying to engage with her.

She then tapped her husband’s shoulder and said, “alright baby we got to get ready.” Hailey looked at the couple and said, “we’ll see you guys there” and took off

The highlight of the whole moment was how oblivious Bieber was during all of this. The “Stay” singer seemed genuinely happy to have run into the couple to the point when he left, he said loud and clear, “I love you guys so much.”

Hailey still said nothing, in fact, she was already halfway out of the frame. Mendes and Cabello definitely noticed the weirdness because the two looked at each other realizing they were left hanging.

We get it, girl, it's not easy running into your ex, especially one that may have been a quick rebound.
