On September 13, Nicki Minaj went off on Twitter to spread misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine. At first, she shared the reason why she won't be attending the annual Met Gala celebration, which took place in New York last Monday.

"They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research," the 38-year-old rapper tweeted. "I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one Folded handsHeart suit."

After resharing some of her fans' tweets, she continued her vaccine rant by sharing a story about a family member's pal.

"My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent," Nicki wrote. "His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied."

The tweet went viral and got her ridiculed for spreading wrong information.

Several well-known names have also called her out, including MSNBC national correspondent Joy Reid.

"For you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives... As a fan, I am so sad that you did that," said the TV personality.

British journalist Piers Morgan has also shared his thoughts about Nicki's claims.

"Professor Whitty beefing with the ghastly @NICKIMINAJ (one of the rudest little madams I’ve ever met) is not the breaking news that I expected today - but it’s most welcome. She’s peddling lies that will cost lives," he tweeted.

A day ago, Dr. Anthony Fauci also weighed in on the musician's belief that the COVID-19 vaccine can cause impotence.

“The answer to that, Jake, is a resounding no," President Biden’s chief medical adviser told CNN's host Jake Tapper in an interview. "There’s no evidence that it happens — nor is there any mechanistic reason to imagine that it would happen, so the answer to your question is no."

Nicki's story, which made rounds on the internet, reached the White House, and she claimed on Twitter that she was "invited" there to talk about the vaccine.

"The White House has invited me & I think it’s a step in the right direction. Yes, I’m going. I’ll be dressed in all pink like Legally Blonde so they know I mean business."

She added, "I’ll ask questions on behalf of the ppl who have been made fun of for simply being human. #BallGate day 3."

According to a previous report by The Blast, the White House offered the "Pills N Potions" rapper the opportunity to speak to a member of President Biden’s coronavirus task force about the vaccines' effectiveness.

“As we have with others, we offered a call with Nicki Minaj and one of our doctors to answer questions she has about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine,” a White House official shared.

Social media users accused Nicki of lying about the whole thing. In response, she took to Instagram and posted a video while talking in the background.

Nicki's claims didn't just blow up in the United States, but it reached worldwide, including her country, Trinidad and Tobago.

As per The Guardian, the country's health minister has dismissed claims made by the singer that her cousin's friend had become impotent after getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

“As we stand now, there is absolutely no reported side effect or adverse event of testicular swelling in Trinidad … and none that we know of anywhere in the world,” health minister Terrence Deyalsingh revealed in a press conference.

The health expert has also regretted the time health officials spent investigating the allegation, saying that they “take all these claims seriously.”

“Unfortunately, we wasted so much time yesterday running down this false claim,” he said.
