Jennifer Aniston Too Scared Of Delta Variant To Attend The Emmys This Year

Jennifer Aniston revealed that she “will not be” attending the 2021 Emmy Awards happening on Sept. 19.

The 52-year-old appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live where she admitted that she is not taking any chances with the new COVID-19 Delta variant, but producer and director of Friends Ben Winston will accept on her behalf.

Aniston has shared that she has been keeping a pretty low profile because of the steady spread of the delta variant. Pointing out that her appearance in-person, on the host’s show was kind of a big deal. “This is a big step for me to just be here. Just baby steps.”

TheMorning Show actress explained to Kimmel that since the pandemic took a serious turn in 2020, she has been avoiding too much interaction and basically staying home as much as humanly possible.

Recently she had begun going out to film the second season of her Apple TV show. Now, she is out more to do press and visit her friends “safely”.

“We had this little bubble of friends — thank God,” she said of her co-stars Jason Bateman, and Courtney Cox. “I love all of you so much — but yeah, it was hard. Weird times,” she points out.

While Aniston doesn’t feel confident enough yet to place herself in a big crowd, the Emmys assure its attendees that they are taking the precautions to make sure that everyone will be as safe as they can possibly get it.

Last year's ceremony was entirely virtual, and Aniston and Kimmel appeared to give out the first-ever virtual award. the actress even tapped into her acting skills and did a little comedic scene where she was forced to extinguish a fire after burning the winner’s envelope.

Last year was fun for the Murder Mystery actress not only because she was in the comfort of a huge space with very few people, but she admitted getting to spend less time getting ready was also somewhat satisfying.

Unfortunately, this year, no stunts involving her, and fire will be involved and she is not planning on surprising fans with a visit either (unless it’s virtual maybe).

Aniston has been nominated for eight Emmys between 2002 and 2021, she won in 2002 for Best Actress for Friends. This year, she is nominated again for Outstanding Variety Special for Friends: The Reunion

The show itself has managed to nab a total of four nominations this year. Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special, and, of course, Outstanding Variety Special.

The reunion made a splash earlier this year when it premiered on HBO: Max. The entire cast received executive producer credits on the reunion special, so this is kind of a big deal for Aniston to miss.

However, the consistent actress has chosen the same route with every event this year except Kimmel’s late-night show.

Aniston also recently made headlines for stating that she has and will continue to cut unvaccinated people out of her life. This latest move further reiterates, she isn’t taking chances and is taking the virus very seriously.
