The comedy world is laughing a little less today after the tragic news of Norm MacDonald’s passing.
The legendary comedian died at the age of 61 after a decades long battle with cancer.
The Blast previously reported the unexpected and tragic news.
Such a loss!
According to multiple reports, the ‘Saturday Night Live’ star died on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, after privately fighting the deadly disease for over nine years.
His passing was announced by his management team Brillstein Entertainment.
Norm was surrounded by friends and his producing partner, Lori Jo Hoekstra, at the time of his death.
His battle with cancer may come as a shock to his mass of fans and that’s because he worked very hard to keep his battle a secret.
Norm was determined to keep his health struggles away from his family, friends, and especially fans.
“He was most proud of his comedy,” Hoekstra said in a statement.

Mike Birbiglia shared his condolences on the platform writing, “RIP Norm MacDonald. I saw him perform live when I was in college. It was one of the most memorable performances I’ve ever seen. A complete mastery of standup comedy performance and an unparalleled passion for the art of writing jokes. Never met him. Love to his friends & family.”
Greg Fitzsimmons tweeted, “Nobody was funnier than @normmacdonald. He made comedians feel like we hadn’t even started doing comedy yet. No formulas, no pandering just purely what he thought was funny. Oh yeah, incidentally one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever known.”
