And the hits just keep coming for Anna Wintour’s annual Met Gala.
Kylie Jenner is the latest celebrity to announce she will NOT be attending the biggest night in fashion.
The year’s Met ball marks the Costume Institutes 75th Anniversary and will be held today, September 13th at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Kylie has attended the annual event, with the exception of last year, since 2016.
The Kylie Cosmetics founder even took a trip down memory lane via her Instagram Story on Monday.
Met Gala Kylie Circa 2016
She posted her first-ever Met Gala look from 2016 where she wore a silver embellished, long-sleeved Balmain gown.
In 2017 she was dressed by Donatella Versace. Kylie wore her hair in a short bob cut which was bleach blonde, a far cry from her dark tresses. Her beaded gown was rose gold in color with bright gold accents sewn into it.
Versace, Versace, Versace, Versace!
In 2018, Kylie shocked fans on the carpet given that she had just given birth in February of that same year. She wore an all-black Alexander Wang gown with tiny diamond encrusted sunglasses. This was the first year she and Travis Scott attended the gala together.
In 2019, she was once again dressed by Donatella Versace in a violet-colored floor length gown complete with a purple weave.
This was truly Kylie’s year at the Met!
All Hail Kylie Jenner!
Sadly thought, 2021’s Met ball will NOT see a Kylie Jenner takeover.
After posting photos of her past Met looks, the expectant mother wrote in her story, “I’m so sad I couldn’t make it this year 🤍 🤍 I can’t wait to see all the looks 🤍🤍.”
According to PageSix, Kylie won’t be attending because it would be too much since she’s pregnant.
A source told the outlet, “Kylie’s pregnant and it’s a lot to take on, going to such a public event,” noting it takes a lot of time, energy, and effort.
So Sad 😢
Kylie has been in New York that past few days taking in New York Fashion Week. She did not attend the 2021 MTV VMAs on Sunday, September 12; however, she did support her baby daddy from the comforts of a room.
It’s unclear whether or not Kylie is back in Los Angeles or still in New York City.
Kylie isn’t the only A-list heavy hitter to skip out in this year’s Met Gala.
Zendaya and Dua both had scheduling conflicts that kept them from attending. Selena on the other hand, we aren’t sure why she won’t be there, but her makeup artist Hung Vanngo reportedly revealed she would not be in attendance.
I guess that means there’s more room for influencers… great.
