Selena Gomez Admits To Being MORTIFIED Of Her 2018 Met Gala Look

The 2021 Met Gala is right around the corner. The annual event, with the exception of last year, will take place at the Metropolitan Theatre on Monday, September 13.

It’s the BIGGEST night in fashion and while most of the Met Gala looks are eccentric and out there, Selena Gomez is admitting her 2018 Met look was a major miss!

SelGo received major backlash for her overly tanned look with many accusing her of doing Blackface.

The singer walked the red carpet in flowing Coach gown, paired with a Coach bag that had a religious message hidden in plain sight, a nod to the event's "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" theme.

Fans took to Twitter to express their dislike for the over-bronzed look.

One person wrote, “I love Selena Gomez but her fake tan and makeup is sooo bad. I’m cringing ???.”

Another tweeted, “Whoever did Selena Gomez’s makeup for the met gala …. Needs to get fired. Why y’all do her like that?” and finally, “WHY SELENA LOOK LIKE SHE IN BLACKFACE.”

Sel seemingly responded to the backlash with a video of herself running away from the camera in a parking garage. She captioned the video, “Me when I saw my pictures from the Met.”

Now three years later, Selena is setting the record straight on her disastrous Met makeup.

The “Kill Em With Kindness” singer caught up with Vogue for their “Beauty Secrets” YouTube series.

Before applying her bronzer, Selena took a fun trip down memory lane and explained her 2018 Met Ball look.

“For the Met Gala I was getting ready and we wanted to add some color, so I put on some of this tanning lotion and it looked very beautiful and very even,” she explains. “As the evening kept going on it was getting a little darker and darker, and I didn’t notice it. And, I’m at the Met Gala, basically one of the most prestige, beautiful events. I’m walking and trying to act all beautiful, and I look at a photo of myself when I sit down and I’m completely orange.”

While recounting that particular evening, Selena was giggling throughout the entire video.

She knew at the time she would get ‘eaten alive’ for her look, and the best way she knew how to respond was to post the video of her running away.

“My first reaction was just to get the hell out of there,” Selena admitted.

You live and you learn. The most important thing is that she can look back and laugh at the situation.
