Nicole Scherzinger is firing back, through her lawyer at the accusations that she is “extorting” her former group The Pussycat Dolls. The lawsuit was filed by the group’s founder. Robin Antin is ready to move full speed ahead with the tour after COVID-19 forced the initial 2020 reunion to be pushed back.

PEOPLE shared a statement from the singer’s lawyer, Howard King, that called the founder’s claims “ludicrous and false”. He also called Antin a failure and accused her of using the lawsuit to make up for those failures.

“A desperate attempt to divert blame for her own failures by trying to impose obligations on Nicole that simply do not exist.”

Quick Recap

‘The Pussycat Dolls’ Accuse Nicole Scherzinger Of Financial ‘Extortion’ Over Reunion Tour

The group, which includes Melody Thornton, Ashley Roberts, Carmit Bachar, Kasey Campbell, and Jessica Sutta and Antin are accusing the former X Factor judge of breaching her contract of their reunion tour.

A tour, by the way, that they have allegedly been putting together since 2017. They received 600,000 from Live Nation to exclusively promote the tour. Scherzinger negotiated 49 percent of the shares and profits of the tour for herself.

Apparently, that wasn’t enough for the singer who is now asking for 75% of the company formed for the upcoming tour. The group claims that Scherzinger is kind of holding them hostage by refusing to perform if her demands are not met.

Robin Is A Failure

Still, Scherzinger’s lawyer claims that all of this back and forth is actually not his client’s fault but the fault of Antin and her poor money management and bad career mistakes. Damn!

"Robin will fail in her efforts to trade on Nicole's hard-earned success to pull herself out of a deep financial hole she has created by her own poor business and professional decisions," claims King.

Oh, and that $600,000 that Live Nation contributed has nothing to do with Scherzinger. In fact, Antin was using the singer’s celebrity status without her even knowing to procure the upcoming tour.

Nicole Invested Her Own Money

“Prior to Nicole's involvement, trading on Nicole's name without her consent, Robin borrowed (and spent) $600,000 from Live Nation that she won't or can't repay.”

King insists that the Masked Singer judge put her own hard-earned money in as an investment. “Nicole has invested her own funds in excess of $150,000 in support of a potential PCD reunion that has now been made impossible by Robin's actions (including the public release of the group members' confidential financial information).”

So far, the re-negotiated tour dates for May 2021 and June 2021 have not gone forward, but according to her lawyer, it really is not because of his client.

King made sure to point out that there are no hard feelings on Scherzinger’s side, and she is actually still hoping for a tour.

“Nicole loves and respects the PCD fans and hopes to one day be back on stage performing the group's amazing hits for them.” But keep in mind, “this will not happen under these circumstances.”
