Brittany Matthews, who is engaged to NFL star Patrick Mahomes, fired back at an online troll who criticized her career path. This was in one of the comments sections of pictures showing her 6-month-old, Sterling.
Matthews and Mahomes welcomed their first child on February 20, 2021. They later posted on Instagram a picture of the baby’s hand, as well as an image of Patrick holding the child, with the back of Sterling’s head shown. The face of the little one wasn’t shown until recently.
In the post, it featured sweet photos of Matthews who turned 26 on Sept 1 and Sterling. They both seemed to be in a birthday mood, as Sterling wore a headband with a “happy birthday” message on it. Matthews captioned the photo with “Just a Mama and her Girl,” and added a heart emoji.
The post received a lot of heartwarming and positive comments, with an exception being a follower who wrote in part, “She most definitely twenty years from now is gonna be on some real housewives of athletes type of show because for real what does she actually do besides just being the wife and mother of Pat Macs child. Like really why is she relevant?”
Responses
Matthews fired back at the troll with a simple reply where she wrote, “and you follow me why?,” with a thinking face emoji.
This garnered plenty of praises from other individuals and fans. One even wrote, “he obviously doesn’t follow you closely or else he would see all of the amazing (bad a**) things you are doing in life. True role model to your little girl,” and concluded with a heart emoji.
Another fan pointed out that Matthews is a co-owner of professional women’s soccer team Kansas City NWSL, with the Kansas City resident referencing Matthews as the “sole reason we have it.”
Mathews has had a long-standing interest in soccer, having played high school soccer at the Whitehouse High School in Texas.

She then studied Kinesiology at UT Tyler and became a record-setting collegiate athlete, ending her remarkable journey of college soccer with 31 goals, 16 assists, and a team record of 56-13-5.
In 2017, she signed with the UMF, an Iceland pro team. She played with them for a year and moved on to help individuals with fitness programs. She also created her own fitness company called Brittany Lynne Fitness.
Matthews And Mahomes’ Relationship
They have been high school lovers who have been together for a decade. They met when they were teenagers at Whitehouse High School. Mahomes was a grade higher than Matthews and graduated a year earlier.
Mahomes attended Texas Tech University, and the pair had a long-distance relationship. However this did not diminish their romance. Instead, it increased the love between them. Mahomes and Matthews are a massive support system for one another as they constantly motivate and inspire each other.
The couple moved to Kansas City after Mahomes was signed to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017. They bought their first home in 2019. They also have two dogs named Silver, a Cane Corso, and Steel, a Pitbull.
The lovebirds got engaged in September 2020. Mahomes proposed to his lover at the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium. He surprised her with an arrangement of flowers and marquee lights which spelled out, “Will You Marry Me?” He then went on bended knees to propose to his girl with a dazzling ring.

The couple welcomed their first child, Sterling Skye, on February 20, 2021. Since her birth, the athletes have taken her everywhere with them.
Trolls Didn’t Start Today
It’s not the first time trolls have come to Mathews. In July, she shared a bikini picture with the caption, “haters will always hate, but breastfeeding mothers will understand.” This was a response to rumors of her getting a breast augmentation after her delivery.
Also in February, a day before Sterling was born, Matthews responded to the critique of her maternity photo, by writing, “Women being hateful to other women on social media seriously needs to stop! If you have nothing nice to say, THEN STFU.”
Matthews has clearly gotten used to brushing off criticisms and backlashes off her shoulders.
Who Is Patrick Mahomes?
Before being drafted into the NFL in 2017, Mahomes, who is the son of former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes Sr., played both baseball and football for Whitehouse High School and Texas Tech.
He bagged the “NFL’s Most Valuable Player” award in 2018. In his third professional season, he became 2020’s Super Bowl MVP.
Later that year, he signed a 10-year contract with the Chiefs, which was reportedly worth $503 million.
Mahomes, who is engaged and has a baby with his high school sweetheart Brittany Matthews, is also a vocal supporter of various charities and social justice initiatives. He played in his second Super Bowl in February 2021.
