CBS' 'The Talk' Loses Another Co-Host Amid Constant Show Drama

Carrie Ann Inaba disclosed her intentions to leave CBS's "The Talk" a few months back, and now, the show is set to lose another incredible and fan-loved co-host.

This time around, it's Elaine Welteroth that announced her exit after appearing on the show for one season only. The journalist who is also a former editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue is now recorded as the third co-host to exit the show in less than a year.

First, it was Sharon Osbourne whose departure came after she was embroiled in racial controversy, then Inaba who had been absent from the show since April.

Welteroth’s exit comes as a shocker since she hadn't been on the show for very long.

In a post on her Instagram page, Welteroth disclosed her exit from the show and told fans to stay tuned for more updates.

"It is an absolute honor for anyone, but especially a young Black woman, to occupy space on-air where our perspectives are largely underrepresented. It was gratifying to be able to show up as my authentic self in front of a live national audience every day in a world as divided as ours and to stay true to myself and what I stand for." Welteroth wrote.

"I came to The Talk to break out of my own echo chamber and to join a diverse cast in helping to bridge some of the divides in our world through conversation and empathy. I'm proud of how I represented myself and my community. But as I always say: when the music changes, so must your dance! I will miss my talented co-hosts and crew and I wish them the very best. Thanks to all those who tuned in every day." she continued.

"I'm moving into a new chapter and won't be back next season, but I will miss my talented co-hosts and crew and our daily #glamfam dance parties in the dressing room so much. Thank you all for riding with me through this journey. Stay tuned for some exciting updates ahead." she concluded.

Moving on is a certainty in life as different people look forward to different and bigger opportunities in life.

The CBS talk show aired on the network for the first time back in 2010 and has employed several amazing people to be moderators of the show.

The show first starred Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Leah Remini, and Holly Robinson Peete. Leah, Marissa, and Holly all left in season one while Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler joined in the second season.

Over the years, Rapper-turned-actress Eve, Carrie Inaba, Marie Osmond, Amanda Kloots, and Elaine Welteroth also joined the show while a host of others left to pursue other projects.

With Welteroth’s recent departure, Amanda Kloots and Sheryl Underwood are the only co-hosts left from last season.

The New York Times bestselling author recently launched a MasterClass for "Designing the Career of Your Dreams." Through the digital class, Welteroth taught students how to become independent and craft their dream jobs from their passion.

In a press release, she said; "This class is for all the creative entrepreneurs, the mid-career pivoters, and big dreamers who just need a little bit of help figuring out how to map out exactly how you’re gonna make all of your career dreams happen in this one lifetime,"

"The reality is there is no one-size-fits-all approach to success. Your approach needs to be custom designed for you, and I want to help you craft the plan to make it happen," she explained.

Fans can also expect to see her return as a judge on Project Runway, an American reality television series that focuses on fashion design.

Season 19 is scheduled to begin filming in New York City this spring, with an expected air date later this year.

Earlier this year, co-host Underwood, revealed that the show had a "very special announcement for viewers."

"We're about to reveal who will be joining us as a permanent host on The Talk,” she said. "Now this person has been doing some serious training to get ready for their new hosting duties."

The show then cut to a video of Jerry O'Connell working out to the song titled "Eye of the Tiger" before taking a walk into the studio. O'Connell entered the studio and was greeted by Underwood, Kloots and Welteroth. He is the show’s first full-time male co-host.

Although CBS has not stated who would be replacing Welteroth, the search for a new host has already begun. The show is set to return on September 13, 2021.
