According to reports, the reality star has been dating a college student named Dralin Carswell for a solid six months. It should be noted right away, that despite their age difference — Alana’s family approves of the relationship regardless of the four-year age gap.
“Dralin and Alana are attached at the hip and hang out together all the time,” says The Sun, who broke the story. “He was quiet at first, but he’s like one of the family now. He’s just as fun and crazy as the rest of them.” In the article, the outlet points out the couple appeared to confirm their romantic relationship in March after he changed his Facebook status to “in a relationship.”

Plus, Honey Boo Boo also updated her relationship status the same way and posted a selfie with Carswell on her private Facebook account. In reaction to the post, Carswell wrote “base” with a heart emoji in the comment section, according to PageSix.
At this point, many are asking the same question about the possible issue with Honey Boo Boo’s age and having a boyfriend who is over 18. Well, the couple lives in the state of Georgia, and the age of consent is 16. In other words, there are NO issues with the couple having a romantic relationship — legally.
As for Dralin, apparently, he is a car fanatic — and has a Camaro, that is like his baby. According to The Sun, he even lets her drive it sometimes. “Right now she is saving up for her own car though — she wants a Jeep,” the outlet reports.

As we reported, Alana recently opened up about her struggles with living a normal life and going to school in Georgia. The reality star told Teen Vogue she attends a public high school — and filters her friends based on the ones who still choose to call her by her childhood nickname.
“I feel like folks are so much like, ‘Oh my God, I’m friends with Honey Boo Boo,” admitting they expect her to act a certain way.
Unfortunately, she claims it has made it difficult to connect with classmates at her high school. “To be honest, I do not have many friends. At all. I don’t trust nobody really, so I don’t have friends.”

The reality star is also dealing with the fall-out of her mother — Mama June — and the substance abuse problems in the family. As you know, June was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia in 2019, and it led to Alana being sent to live with her 21-year-old sister, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Shannon.
A lot of folks in this world do not realize how many people are actually really affected by drug and alcohol (use) … It’s very, very hard. It’s something I’d wish on nobody, for real,” she told Teen Vogue. Adding, “When my mama got real bad with her (drug use), I didn’t know where I was going to end up. I’m proud of myself for how far I’ve come.”
