"Dead To Me" actress Christina Applegate has shared via Twitter that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The 49-year-old shared the heartfelt message with her followers. “Hi friends. A few months ago, I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey,” she admitted. However, she assured her fans that she has all the encouragement she could ever need. “I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going.” She stayed optimistic joking that the only way this can go bad is if some “a hole” messes it up.

The Married… With Children actress shared a wise quote from her friends who also suffer from MS. “We wake up and take the indicated action”. And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing.  Thank you xo.” MS is an autoimmune disease that affects the body's nervous system. Applegate did not specify to her followers any of her personal symptoms (each patient is different) but MS is known to cause tiredness, vision issues, and chronic pain among many other painful symptoms. Some patients can live pain-free but sadly, there is no cure for this disease as of yet.

Soon after the actress posted her truth she was flooded with support from followers, fans, and fellow patients of the disease. They too showed encouragement, “You got this!  I've been Diagnosed almost 9 years ago now.  It's manageable and you will crush it!” shared a follower.  Others noted that she should refrain from looking up the disease on the internet. A few followers even shared some of the things that worked for them or people they know battling MS. “Yoga and diet can make a difference. Chin up. You’ve got this. :),” wrote a follower while another noted that her family member has been doing great since they changed their diet.

Applegate is no stranger to serious illness she has already beat breast cancer, a diagnosis she shared back in 2008. After a double mastectomy, she revealed that she was thankfully cancer-free. Applegate also shared that her diagnosis was detected thanks to an MRI that her doctor recommended. She inherited the BRCA1 gene from her mother who also battled and beat breast cancer. At the time the actress was very real about the diagnosis and continues to this day through her social media and philanthropy to encourage people to pay attention to their body and visit their doctor regularly.

Applegate joins a handful of other celebrities who have opened up about their diagnosis of multiple sclerosis including Selma Blair and Jack Osbourne. Blair has been documenting her journey on social media since 2018 when she shared her diagnosis with her fans. She named some of her symptoms which included brain fog and the occasional trip and fall. However, she has also been able to show that MS is not a prison sentence. While she walks with a cane sometimes to maintain her balance, she has proven that it won’t slow her down. Applegate and Blair starred in The Sweetest Thing together along with Cameron Diaz, maybe Blair is one of the many people she has for support.
