Jon Gosselin's Girlfriend Undergoes Single Mastectomy Following Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Jon Gosselin's girlfriend, Colleen Conrad, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is breaking her silence on the emotional and 'surreal' situation.

The 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' star's girlfriend took to social media to announce the diagnosis and share several photos of the surgery that followed it and the start of her recovery. In the post, Conrad revealed she was diagnosed in April and underwent a single mastectomy in July.

“I went for a mammogram on 4/15,” she wrote. Adding, “I had put it off for almost 2 1/2 yrs due to lack of time and Covid and later got a call that a mass was found in my right breast. Everything after that happened so fast. Then on 4/21, I got the call that is confirmed it was cancer. Stage 2, triple-negative breast cancer."

She continued, "I was BRCA1 and 2 negative. Everything seemed so surreal. I had a single mastectomy done on my right breast on 7/14/21 followed by a DIEP Flap procedure on 7/30/21 and I feel good. The DIEP flap was a personal choice for me. I am very happy with the outcome but I also had amazing surgeons at Penn Medicine in Philadelphia.”

The good news, doctors downgraded her cancer to stage 1 after the surgery but is still waiting to find out if she will need chemotherapy. “I think the first time it hit me and felt real is when I felt the lump myself in the shower. That was the first time I broke down and cried. I had not been doing monthly self-breast exams as I should have," she wrote.

“I was also lucky enough to have support through amazing friends and family but mostly my 2 kids Jesse and Jordan and my sister Debbie. Even though My sister was 1200 miles away. She was always there supporting me. I have one last surgery in about 2 months but I feel good!!" Colleen concluded. 

Interestingly, the reality star's girlfriend didn't mention him in her post about cancer, but all roads lead to them still being together and the famous couple still follows each other on social media.

Fans flooded Colleen's IG account with messages of encouragement, but also to point out how great it is she is sharing the message. "Thank you for sharing your story. Hopefully, it will light a fire under some of us to get a mammogram and pay attention to our bodies.....healing mercies sent your way ❤️," one person wrote.

Another added, "Oh my goodness! I’m so glad you’re okay and recovering well. Sending healing thoughts and lots of prayers for continuing good health!"

"As a cancer survivor myself, I understand completely what you’re going through. Thank you so much for posting this as we can’t have too much awareness for women, and men, that early detection is the key! Here’s to a complete recovery! ??," another fan wrote.

Jon Gosselin and Colleen Conrad celebrated their six-year anniversary in November of 2020.
