A former FBI agent has made a shocking analysis of the latest ransom note sent in relation to the suspected kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie.
The text has raised questions about the writer’s true motives, especially as they claim to have proof of the missing octogenarian on what may have been her “last day” alive with the “main guy” who orchestrated the kidnapping.
Reacting to the ransom note, an ex-agent revealed that this shift in tone is an indicator that the Nancy Guthrie kidnappers are attempting to establish a “pretext” to avoid the death penalty if captured.
The Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Suspects Are Likely Angling To Avoid The Death Penalty

Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer has given an interesting take on the latest ransom note sent by the suspected Nancy Guthrie kidnappers or their allies.
During a chat with Hena Doba on “NewsNation Prime” Sunday, she revealed that the tone of the new note hinted that the suspects plan to use it as “mea culpa,” in case they get found and arrested.
“They have a murder on their hands as opposed to a kidnapping, and that is punishable by the death penalty in Arizona, and they well know this,” Coffindaffer noted.
She continued, “This is some sort of pretext to kind of say, ‘Listen, we didn’t mean for this to happen.’…You know, mea culpa, if you will, for the event that they are caught.”
The message came shortly after the FBI released details of an earlier ransom note sent back in February, which claimed Nancy was dead. According to Coffindaffer, this has caused the alleged kidnappers to try to take back control of the narrative.
The Kidnappers Are Trying To ‘Control The Narrative’ As They Didn’t Want Nancy To Die, Expert Claims

The new ransom email, which was sent to TMZ, still requested one bitcoin in exchange for video proof of Nancy and one of the kidnappers.
According to the news outlet, it also contained info, such as a crypto address which matches the previous ransom emails sent.
The suspect’s move has, however, been slammed as an attempt to get attention and to be in control of the narrative again.
“It’s about attention. It’s about control. And he hopes he can get a Bitcoin out of it, too, but it’s mainly about controlling this narrative at this point,” Coffindafer said.
She continued, “They didn’t want her to die before they could make the claim and send proof of life and get their ransom, so this went horribly wrong for them. So I do really believe that, unfortunately, Nancy Guthrie is not with us.”
The ex-agent then told Doba that authorities are nearing a breakthrough in finding Guthrie’s abductors. Warning that the pace of the investigation has accelerated rapidly, she stated: “Behind the scenes, it’s red hot. We just can’t see everything going on by these investigators. … There is so much.”
All About The Shocking New Ransom Note

According to reports, the new note confirmed the claims made in one of the earlier notes sent in February, which alleged that Nancy had died.
This time around, the author insisted that they have video proof of the 84-year-old and one of the kidnappers, whom they described as the “main guy.”
“I have a phone stashed in a secure location guaranteeing both the information it stores and the safety of the phone,” the note reportedly read.
It continued, “What it contains is my definition of delivering them on a silver platter, a short video of the main guy with nancy the day that was probably her last, pictures of both involved, names and addresses and age.”
The author of the note further claimed that the device is stashed in an accessible location, provided the recipient knows exactly where to look. They promised to deliver the necessary password in exchange for one bitcoin, supplying a fresh cryptocurrency wallet address for the transaction.
Pima County Sheriff Blasts The New Ransom Note As A Cruel Hoax

Amid backlash over his handling of the case, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has shot down the new letter sent to TMZ regarding Nancy Guthrie.
Nanos flatly rejected the ransom note as a shameless hoax during a Friday appearance on local radio station KVOI AM 1030, where he spoke more about the case.
“I think the FBI has done a number of arrests for false or fake ransom notes,” Nanos warned. “It’s a shame that that happens, but I think we’re looking at another one of those today,” he added about the latest development.
“It is a shame that these types of events occur; people have great interest… that’s good because it helps us, but then it gets really abused,” the sheriff continued, per the New York Post. “People who call in fake ransom notes, people who claim for the sake of media and the family, they get out and disturb, in this case, an entire neighborhood.”
Savannah Guthrie Pleads For Help Finding Her Mother, Nancy

Meanwhile, amid the ongoing investigation, Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, broke character during the Tuesday episode of the “Today” show to make a direct plea to viewers for help with information on her mother’s whereabouts.
The journalist said, “I just wanted to take the opportunity to really ask people and really beg people to come forward because somebody knows something.”
“This is a news story today that is on your radar, but this is the life my sister, [Annie Guthrie], lives, that I live, that my brother, [Camron Guthrie], lives, that our extended families live, that our children live every day,” she added.
A teary-eyed Savannah then admitted that her family remains unable to find peace despite her daily efforts to step into the public eye and maintain a positive front. She emphasized that she would not pass up a chance to ask for public assistance, concluding with a firm vow to continue the search for her mother no matter what.
